Harding Men's Basketball Clinches Postseason Berth, Downs Henderson State

SEARCY – Senior Stefan Andelkovic scored 25 points and added 11 rebounds to lead Harding to an 87-82 victory over Henderson State on Thursday at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House and earn the Bisons a berth in the Great American Conference Tournament.

It was Harding's final home game of the season, and seniors Andelkovic and Will Francis both played key roles. Francis made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points.

Harding ended a four-game skid, improved to 14-9 overall and jumped to 11-8 in conference play. The Bisons remained in fifth place in the GAC with three road games remaining, beginning Saturday at Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.

Henderson State lost its seventh straight to Harding and fell to 14-11 overall. The Reddies are 9-10 in conference play and tied for seventh place.

Harding made nine 3-pointers and shot 61 percent in the first half. The Bisons led 45-30 at halftime after closing the half on a 12-0 run.

Harding led 63-51 with 11:00 left, but Henderson State went on a 9-1 run and cut the Bisons' lead to 64-60 with 7:30 left. Harding pushed the lead back out to 13 points on an Andelkovic 3-pointer with 3:13 left that gave the Bisons an 81-68 lead.

Again, Henderson State answered, this time with a 10-0 run over a 91-second span, and Kevin Kozan's 3-pointer with 1:42 left cut Harding's lead to 81-78.
Tim Wagner, who scored 19 points, made six free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.

Gojko Djokovic added 12 points and a career-high nine rebounds for Harding.

Kozan led Henderson State with 25 points, and Chris Hawkins had 22.
