ADA, Okla. – Great American Conference scoring leader Braxton Reeves scored 32 points to lead East Central to a 93-72 victory over Harding on Saturday at the Kerr Activities Center. It was the regular-season finale for both teams.
Harding concludes the regular season 14-12 overall and 11-11 in the GAC. The Bisons are part of a four-way tie for fifth place but will be the No. 7 seed in the GAC Tournament due to tiebreaker scenarios. Harding will take on No. 2 seed Arkansas-Monticello in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at 2:15 p.m.
East Central finished 21-7 overall and tied for the GAC regular-season championship with a 17-5 conference record. The Tigers will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament and play No. 8 Henderson State.
Harding battled back from an early deficit to cut East Central's lead to 31-29 with 5:52 left in the first half, but the Tigers went on a 13-0 run and led 49-37 at halftime.
Zac Ward hit a jumper with 11:59 left to pull Harding within 10 at 69-59. East Central answered with a 3-pointer from Reeves and the Tigers pulled away.
Tim Wagner led Harding with 20 points, Stefan Andelkovic made four 3-pointers and scored 18, and Will Francis added 13.
Reeves was 11-of-19 from the field, including 6-of-10 from the 3-point line, and made all four of his free throws.
