Ouachita's Three-Point Shooting Sinks Harding

SEARCY – Ouachita Baptist made a season-high 17 3-pointers and defeated Harding 71-52 on Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding fell to 13-7 overall and 10-6 in the GAC with the loss, its second straight at home. The Bisons remained in fourth place in the GAC standings with six games remaining, including Saturday night at home against leader Arkansas-Monticello.

Ouachita improved to 11-9 and pulled within one game of Harding in the conference standings at 9-7. The win was the Tigers' third straight and snapped a six-game road losing streak.

Ouachita Baptist held Harding to only 24 percent shooting in the first half, made eight 3-pointers and led 34-17 at halftime. The Tigers opened the second half with eight straight points and led by as many as 31 points.

Harding held an 8-7 lead early, but Ouachita scored the next 14 points and led the rest of the way.

Lakee Westbrook, a senior guard, led the Ouachita long-range barrage. He connected on his first 10 3-point attempts and led all scorers with 36 points. Westbrook's 10 3-pointers were the most ever made in a game by a Harding opponent. Matthew Ward made four 3-pointers and scored 12 points.

Will Francis was Harding's leading scorer with 16 points. He had three of Harding's eight 3-pointers. Tim Wagner scored 12.

Ouachita was 0-for-5 from the free-throw line and became the first Harding opponent ever without at least one free throw.
