Solid Pitching Efforts Lead Harding Baseball to Doubleheader Sweep of Williams Baptist

SEARCY – Harding got a complete game effort from senior left-hander Matt Brashear in game one and six pitchers combined to allow only three hits in game two as the Bisons swept Williams Baptist 10-2 and 6-2 in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at Jerry Moore Field.

Harding (21-25) eclipsed the 20-win mark for the 12th consecutive season and plays at Arkansas Tech on Friday and Saturday in its final regular-season GAC series.

Williams Baptist (20-29), an NAIA school located in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, managed just seven hits in the doubleheader.

Brashear (1-0) earned his first career win in game one. He allowed only four hits and one earned run, walking one and striking out five.

Harding scored multiple runs in three of its six innings at bat, including four in the first. The Bisons added two in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Harding had 15 hits in the game. Myles Humphreys was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Ben Brauss, J. Paul Fullerton and Tyler Mohr drove in two runs each.
Garrett Shaffer (1-1) took the loss for Williams Baptist, allowing five earned runs in three innings.

Harding used six pitchers in game two, with reliever Kyle Giefer (1-0) earning his first win as a Bison. He was the pitcher of record when Harding broke a 1-1 tie on Zach Beasley's RBI single in the third. The Bisons tacked on two unearned runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth. Harding did not have a hit in either inning.

Williams Baptist starter Ryan Andrews (1-8), who pitched one inning in game one and started game two, took the loss in the second game. He gave up four runs (two earned) in four innings.
