Ramos, Diaz Lead Harding Men's Soccer to 5-1 Victory

SEARCY, Ark. – Harding sophomore Christian Ramos had two goals and an assist and junior Jason Diaz added a goal and an assists as the Bisons opened Great American Conference play with a 5-1 victory over Southern Nazarene Thursday at Stevens Field.

With the victory, Harding improved to 2-3-2 on the season and 1-0-0 in the GAC. Southern Nazarene lost its fifth straight and fell to 0-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference.

Harding scored three goals in the second half of its 3-0 victory over Southwest Baptist Saturday and added four more second-half goals Thursday. The Bisons have scored nine of their 12 goals in the second half this season.

With the game tied at 1-1, Diaz made a steal in the defensive end and blasted a shot past Southern Nazarene goalkeeper Jeff Ray in the 58th minute. It was his third goal of the season and second career game-winning goal.

Harding continued to pour on the offensive attack. Junior Jeremy Nwonumah scored on a long chip over the goalkeeper in the 59th minute. Ramos' two goals came in the 62nd and 70th minutes. His first was on a free kick around the wall from just outside the 18-yard box, and the second on a shot from 20 yards out on a corner kick taken by Diaz.

Harding's first goal came in the 15th minute from Andre Cunha, who scored his team-leading fourth goal. Freddy DiNang tied it in the 22nd minute, scoring on a corner kick.

Facts and Figures
Harding's five goals were the most ever scored by the Bisons in a GAC game. The Bisons had scored four goals GAC games three times, last in a 4-3 overtime victory against Oklahoma Baptist.

Ramos scored multiple goals in a game for the second time. He had three goals against Central Baptist on Oct. 18, 2016.

Harding outshot Southern Nazarene 18-3 in the second half and 25-7 for the game. Harding has outshot its last two opponents 56-12, including 26-5 shots on goal.
