SEARCY – East Central made five straight 3-pointers during a three-minute stretch late in the first half to pull away from Harding in a 94-69 victory at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
East Central snapped a two-game skid with the victory and improved to 10-6 overall and 8-4 in the GAC. Harding dropped to 1-16 overall and 1-11 in conference. The Bisons play their second home game of the week Saturday at 3 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma.
Harding led 22-20 after a
Braden Eggleston layup with 6:46 left in the half. East Central made 3-pointers on each of its next five possessions, including three for Jeremiah Fleming, as part of a 17-0 run that opened up a 37-22 Tiger lead.
Fleming entered the game second in the GAC in both 3-pointers made per game (3.13) and 3-point field-goal percentage (48.0). He was one of three Tigers to hit three 3-pointers in the game.
ECU's Camron Talley led all scorers with 23 points, all in the second half, and Brett Cannon had a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.
East Central shot 67 percent in the second half, but a
Reggie Anthony 3-pointer with 3:25 left cut the Tigers' lead to 13 points at 81-68. East Central scored the next 10 points to pull away.
Tim Wagner shot 8 of 16 from the field and made three of Harding's eight 3-pointers to score 19 points. Anthony added 11 and led the team with seven rebounds and four assists.
