Harding Men's Soccer Falls 4-1 at Ouachita Baptist; Young Scores First Goal

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Baptist scored two goals in each half and defeated Harding 4-1 Tuesday in Great American Conference men's soccer action at Kluck Field.

Harding trailed by three goals until Bryan Young scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Jason Diaz in the 75th minute.

Noa Cuellar scored in the 13th minute, and Matthew Wallak added a goal in the 36th minute to give Ouachita a 2-0 lead at halftime. Blain Hickman added Ouachita's third goal in the 53rd minute, and Colten Clark added the final goal in the 81st minute.

The loss drops Harding to 6-3-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the GAC. Ouachita moved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference games. Southern Nazarene, the current conference leader at 2-0-0, plays tonight against fourth-place Oklahoma Baptist (0-2-0).

Harding had 15 shots, four on goal. Young led the team with five shots, three on goal.

Harding's next game is Friday, Oct. 5 against Northeastern State in Searcy. The nonconference matchup is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Facts and Figures
  • Young's goal was his first in 22 games as a Harding player.
  • Diaz's assist was his second of the season and 15th of his career, moving him into sole possession of second place on Harding's career assist list. He is three off the school record of Mitch Jones (18, 2000-03).
  • Aric McKinney made his first start of the season and second of his career at goalkeeper for the Bisons.
