Harding Earns Road Victory at Southwestern Oklahoma

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Harding junior Braden Eggleston scored a career-high 21 points and hit key free throws down the stretch to give the Bisons a 90-89 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday at the Pioneer Cellular Events Center. It was Harding's first road victory of the season.

Harding for the fourth time in its last five games in Weatherford and improved to 3-16 overall and 3-11 in the GAC. Southwestern lost its 10th straight game and fell to 3-17 overall and 1-13 in conference.

Southwestern used a 7-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 73-65 with 8:08 left. Harding responded with a 15-4 run, tying the game on a Zac Ward 3-pointer with 5:06 left and taking the lead for good on a driving layup by Reggie Anthony.

Eggleston made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 27 seconds to help Harding maintain its lead. The last two free throws came with six seconds left to give Harding a four-point advantage. Southwestern's Charles Beauregard, who led all scorers with 32 points, made a 3-pointer as time expired.

Beauregard was 10 of 23 from the field and made 10 of 11 free throws. He has scored 73 points in Southwestern's last two games. Devin Pugh added 17 for the Bulldogs.

Zac Ward made four of his five 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 19 points. Tyler Roth added a season-high 14 points, and Tim Wagner had 11.

Harding shot 56 percent in the first half and led 49-41. It was the Bisons' highest-scoring first half of the season.

Harding shot a season-best 54 percent from the field and made 10 of 20 3-pointers. The Bisons also went 16 of 19 (84 percent) at the foul line.

Harding returns to action Saturday at Northwestern Oklahoma. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
