Southwestern Oklahoma Hits 20 3-Pointers to Defeat Harding

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma scored the first 10 points of the second quarter and made six 3-pointers in the period to pull away from Harding in a 103-77 victory Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Pioneer Cellular Events Center.

Southwestern made 20 3-pointers, three more than any team in the GAC had made in a game this season. The Lady Bulldogs had only 11 two-pointers.

Southwestern won its 11th straight overall and 15th straight home game, improving to 19-1 overall and 14-0 in the GAC. Harding, fighting to remain in the top eight in the conference standings, fell to 9-13 overall and 5-9 in the GAC. The Lady Bisons are part of a four-way tie for eighth place after Thursday's contests.

Harding and Southwestern were tied 20-20 after the first quarter, but Southwestern made its first four 3-point attempts in the second quarter and made 6 of 9 from long range. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Bisons 36-20 in the quarter and led 56-40 at halftime.

Southwestern led by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter.

Hailey Tucker, the GAC's leading scorer, made four long 3-pointers in the first quarter and had 22 points by halftime. She finished with 29, including five 3s. Savannah Gray came off the bench and connected on 6 of 7 3-pointers and scored 18.

Sydney Layrock led Harding with 17 points. Falan Miller scored 14, and Peyton Padgett had 11.

Southwestern, who had only four turnovers in the game, became the first team to score 100 points against Harding since Ouachita scored 108 in 2009.
