Rebounding Keys Harding Victory over Southern Arkansas

SEARCY – Harding had one its best rebounding games of the season against the Great American Conference's best rebounding team in a 67-61 victory over Southern Arkansas Saturday at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

A very undersized group of Bisons outrebounded the Muleriders 42-31 and had 12 offensive rebounds that led to a 22-7 advantage in second-chance points.

The victory was Harding's third in its last four home games and was the Bisons' 16th consecutive victory over Southern Arkansas at home.

In a game that had 11 ties and 16 lead changes, it was fitting that an offensive rebound put Harding in the lead for good. Adam Horn rebounded a missed 3-pointer and laid in the putback to give the Bisons a 61-59 lead.

Southern Arkansas' only points down the stretch were two free throws from Draylan Perkins with 17.1 seconds left. The Muleriders immediately fouled Zac Ward, who made both free throws to ice the game.

Ward was a perfect 5 of 5 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and led Harding (5-19, 5-14) with 15 points despite battling early foul trouble. Tyler Roth had 12 points and a team-high four assists. Braden Eggleston added 11 points and 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Reggie Anthony had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Draylan Perkins and CJ Elkins each had 13 points to lead Southern Arkansas, who dropped to 13-12 overall and 9-10 in the GAC.

Harding returns to action Monday in Russellville, Arkansas, against Arkansas Tech. Tip-off at Tucker Coliseum is at 7:30 p.m.
