Tech Pulls Away Late to Halt Harding Comeback

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After a valiant Harding rally, Arkansas Tech took the lead for good with just over five minutes left and held on to defeat the Bisons 70-63 Monday in Great American Conference action at Tucker Coliseum.

Harding (5-20, 5-15) trailed by as many as 15 points with 16:20 left in the second half, but outscored Arkansas Tech 23-8 over the next nine minutes. The Bisons tied the game at 55-55 on Tyler Roth's layup with 7:05 left.

Tech (16-10, 10-10) retook the lead on two free throws from Josiah Thomas at the 5:03 mark. Tech made four of its last five shots and led the rest of the way despite Harding pulling within one point on four occasions.

Zac Ward made four of Harding's 10 3-pointers and led the Bisons with 12 points. Tim Wagner came off the bench to score 11, and Reggie Anthony added 10.

R.J. Glasper led Arkansas Tech with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Harding returns to the Rhodes-Reaves Field House Thursday to take on Arkansas-Monticello. Senior Night is Saturday against Henderson State.
