ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma took advantage of a big run early and defeated Harding 74-61 in Great American Conference men's basketball at Percefull Field House.
Harding scored the first five points of the game, but Northwestern answered with a 16-0 run and led the rest of the game. The Rangers shot 42 percent and made six 3-pointers in the first half to take a 34-27 lead into the break.
Northwestern, who played without leading scorer Treyvon Andres, pushed its lead to 15 at 62-47 with just over seven minutes left in the game. Harding played the entire second half without leading scorer and rebounder JV Long, who injured his foot in the first half.
Reggie Anthony led Harding (5-12, 3-8) in scoring with 15 points, and Romen Martin added 13. Jack Peck scored a season-high 18 points to lead Northwestern Oklahoma (5-12, 3-8).
Harding plays again Saturday at Southwestern Oklahoma. The game begins at 1 p.m.
