Harding Men's Basketball Connects on 12 3's in Exhibition Loss at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – Harding men's basketball connected on 12 3-pointers Wednesday in an 80-54 exhibition loss to NCAA Division I Arkansas State at First National Bank Arena.

Romio Harvey, a junior transfer from Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, led Harding with 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. He was one of five Harding players to make two 3-pointers. Joel Polius, a junior transfer from Jacksonville College in Texas, scored eight points and had a team-high 10 rebounds.

Harding remained close to Arkansas State, picked ninth of 12 teams in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll, through the first half. The Red Wolves led 36-31 at halftime.

Arkansas State opened the second half with a 15-3 run that spanned seven minutes and gave the Red Wolves a 51-34 lead.

Harding shot 36% from the field overall, but made 41% of its 3-point attempts. Returnees Gabriel Divic and Jordan West added eight points each.

Senior guard Canberk Kus led Arkansas State with 20 points and eight rebounds. The Red Wolves shot 52% from the field and outscored the Bisons 42-6 in the paint.

Harding's regular season begins Friday, Nov. 8 at the Big Red Classic in Searcy. The Bisons host Minot State at 7 p.m., then take on St. Cloud St. Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
