SHAWNEE, Okla. – Harding had its highest scoring output of the season and made a season-high 13 3-pointers in a 92-63 victory over Oklahoma Baptist Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Noble Center.
Carissa Caples made seven 3-pointers, and she scored 21 of her career-high 32 points in the first half. Cheyenne Brown made all four of her 3-point attempts and had a career-high 20 points. Kellie Lampo and Kennedy Cooper had 14 points each.
Peyton Padgett did a little of everything for Harding. She had five points, nine rebounds, a career-high eight assists and four steals.
Caples made four 3-pointers and led Harding to a 53-29 lead at halftime. It was Harding's highest-scoring first half since posting 54 against Northwestern Oklahoma in 2016. Harding had not scored 50 points in the first half of a road game since joining the NCAA in 1997.
The victory pushed Harding to 19-7 overall and 14-6 in the Great American Conference. Harding remained in a three-way tie for second place with East Central and Southern Nazarene. Oklahoma Baptist fell to 10-16 overall and 6-14 in the GAC, losing its fifth straight.
Harding shot 49 percent from the field overall and made 13 of 15 free throws. Oklahoma Baptist shot only 39 percent, missed 21 3-pointers and made just 6 of 15 free throws.
Autumn Avina led Oklahoma Baptist with 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Harding's next action is Thursday at home against GAC leader Southwestern Oklahoma.
