Harding Women Held Off Down the Stretch, Fall to SWOSU

SEARCY – No. 10 Southwestern Oklahoma held off a late Harding run and defeated the Lady Bisons 74-64 Thursday in Great American Conference play at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Southwestern (26-1, 21-0) won its 26th straight and remained unbeaten in conference games. Harding (19-8, 14-7) lost at home for only the second time this season. The Lady Bisons dropped to fourth in the GAC standings with one game remaining Saturday at home against Northwestern Oklahoma.

Harding trailed 66-55 with 3:59 remaining but went on a 9-0 run to close the gap to 66-64 with 1:14 left. The Lady Bisons made four free throws, got a layup from Carissa Caples and a 3-pointer from Amanda Kearney.

Southwestern Oklahoma called timeout and scored eight straight points in the last minute, including a long 3-pointer from Hayden Priddy with 50 seconds left.

Kellie Lampo led Harding with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Caples had 12 points and Cheyenne Brown added 10.

Hailey Tucker led Southwestern with 20 points, and Bethany Franks scored 15.
