Harding Falters Late in Loss to Southwestern Oklahoma

SEARCY – In a game tied 12 times with 10 lead changes, Southwestern Oklahoma took the lead for good with 13:28 left and fought off Harding down the stretch to win 87-71 in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding (5-22, 3-18) pulled within three points twice, the second coming on an Alex Francis 3-pointer with 10:14 left. Southwestern (5-22, 2-19) outscored Harding 17-7 down the stretch, holding the Bisons to only one field goal in the final seven minutes.

Harding had four players in double figures, led by Reggie Anthony with 14. It was the third time this season Anthony paced the Bisons. J.P. Brandon added 12 points, and Adam Horn and Jordan West had 11 points each. Horn also led Harding with 13 rebounds, tying a season high and giving him his third double-double of the season.

Tre Evans, the GAC's leading scorer, had 27 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the Bulldogs. Kamden Gibson came off the bench to score 18 points, and Chris Braggs, Jr. had 17.

Harding plays its final game of the 2018-19 season Saturday at 3 p.m. against Northwestern Oklahoma. Seniors Reggie Anthony, Filip Medjo, J.V. Long, and Tony Becton, along with senior manager Micah Thomas, will be honored in a postgame ceremony.
