MONTICELLO, Ark. – Arkansas-Monticello scored 13 straight points over a five-minute stretch of the second half and held off Harding 68-58 Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Steelman Field House.
Harding's Tyler Roth made a layup with 13:56 left that put the Bisons ahead 41-40. Harding did not score again until Collier Blackburn made a 3-pointer with 8:18 left. UAM's Austin Hardy scored six points during the Weevils' 13-0 run that gave his team a 53-41 lead.
Harding pulled within 57-51 on another Roth layup with 4:06 left but got no closer.
Freshman Collier Blackburn scored a career-high 11 points to lead Harding. Reggie Anthony added 10.
KJ Lesure, Marcus Gilbert and Austin Hardy all had 16 points to lead the Weevils.
After missing its first nine shots of the game, Harding connected on 10 of its next 16, including a 3-pointer from Anthony on the right wing that gave the Bisons a 29-28 halftime lead.
Harding fell to 5-16 overall and 3-12 in the GAC. Arkansas-Monticello won its third straight and moved to 13-8 overall and 9-6 in conference.
