Aww Shucks Bucs; Harding Baseball Wins on CBU Errors

SEARCY – Harding won for the fourth time in its last five games with a 4-2 victory at home against Christian Brothers Tuesday night at Jerry Moore Field.

Harding improved to 27-16 overall and awaits the arrival of Henderson State Friday for the beginning of a Great American Conference weekend series. The Bisons will enter the series in fourth place in the conference standings with the Reddies just back in fifth. The top six teams reach the GAC Tournament with each team having six games left to play.

Christian Brothers dropped to 8-30 overall.

Tied at 2-2 in the eighth, Harding capitalized on two Christian Brothers mistakes to score twice. Cody Smith led off the eighth with a single. He moved to second on a passed ball and to third on a Ben Brauss sacrifice bunt. Smith scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Eric Hanson reached on a CBU fielding error and raced to second when the Buc outfielders were slow to return the ball to the infield. Brooks Pitaniello pinch ran for Hanson and scored on a Christian Brothers throwing error following Nolan Fertig's infield single.

Brian Tims (2-0) recorded the final seven outs of the game for the Bisons to earn the win. Dylan Adcock started and allowed only one earned run in six innings.

Harding had 10 hits with Fertig, Miles Humphreys, David Butterfield and Jack Thomas recording two each. Fertig had both of Harding's RBIs.
