RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech connected on 16 3-pointers and held off a Harding comeback attempt to defeat the Bisons 96-87 Thursday in Great American Conference action at Tucker Coliseum.
Arkansas Tech extended its home winning streak to nine games and moved to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in the GAC. Harding fell to 6-9 overall and 1-8 in conference.
A 17-0 run early in the first half gave Arkansas Tech a 23-point lead at 37-14 with 8:50 left. Harding outscored Tech 26-10 the rest of the way with runs of 10-0 and 13-2 and trailed 47-40 at halftime.
Harding closed to within three points early in the second half on a Romio Harvey layup with 16:24 left. Tech answered with a 10-2 run and led by at least six the rest of the way.
Harvey led Harding with a career-high 37 points, tied for ninth in Harding single-game history and the most since Jacob Gibson scored 40 against Southern Arkansas in 2016.
Emir Ahmedic set career highs with 22 points and 14 rebounds. He was a perfect 8 of 8 from the field, becoming only the third different Harding player to make at least eight shots in a game without a miss. J.R. Duke was 9 of 9 against Henderson State in 1997, and Zach Roddenberry was 8 of 8 twice in 2012.
Tyler Hutchieson also had a career-high 13 points.
RJ Glasper made six 3-pointers and led Arkansas Tech with 25 points. Tony Hall added 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Harding is back in action Saturday at home against Southern Arkansas. Tipoff at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House is at 3 p.m.
