Southern Arkansas Holds On to Defeat Harding

SEARCY – Southern Arkansas won for the first time in its last 12 road games with a 72-59 victory over Harding Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding went without a field goal for a seven-minute stretch of the second half and dropped to 6-10 overall and 1-9 in conference. Southern Arkansas won in Searcy for the first time since 2002 and improved to 7-9 overall and 4-6 in the GAC.

Southern Arkansas outscored Harding 22-8 in the paint and shot 50% to lead 39-28 at halftime.

Harding pulled within seven points early in the second half but could not overcome the cold shooting stretch, and Southern Arkansas pulled way.

Romio Harvey led Harding with 13 points, and Emir Ahmedic scored 10 points and had a team-high nine rebounds.

Four Muleriders scored 10 or more points, led by Jalen Brooks with 17.

Harding's next game is Thursday at home against Northwestern Oklahoma.
