Morgan Scores 26, Hits Game-Winner to Lift Harding over Northwestern Oklahoma

SEARCY – Harding freshman Davis Morgan had scored 27 points this season entering Thursday's game against Northwestern Oklahoma. He scored 26 more against the Rangers, including a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime and the game-winning shot with 10.6 seconds remaining to give the Bisons a 90-89 overtime victory in Great American Conference play at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding won for the sixth time at home and improved to 7-10 overall and 2-9 in the GAC. Northwestern Oklahoma lost for the seventh time in nine road games and fell to 5-12 overall and 2-9 in conference.

Morgan made one 3-pointer in the first half, but shot a sizzling 7 of 8 in a second half that included four 3-pointers. His 3-pointer with four seconds left in regulation tied the game at 80-80 and sent it to overtime.

Romio Harvey scored the first four points of the extra period and gave Harding an 84-80 lead. Harvey's jumper in the paint with 3:10 left gave the Bisons an 87-82 advantage, but Northwestern scored five straight and tied the game at 87-all on a Parrish Hewitt jumper.

Emir Ahmedic made one of two free throws with 54 seconds left to put Harding back in the lead. Northwestern answered with two free throws from Hewitt that gave the Rangers an 89-88 lead with 23 ticks remaining.

On Harding's final possession, Morgan caught the ball on the right wing, faked a 3-pointer and drove to the baseline where he elevated and drained a 12-footer for the win.

Northwestern missed its final shot in the lane.

Harvey added 18 points. Tyler Hutchieson had 14, and Ahmedic scored 10.

Jaedon Whitfield led Northwestern with 23 points and eight rebounds. Hewitt scored 19, and Jack Peck added 14.

Harding returns to action Saturday at home against Southwestern Oklahoma. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
