Southeastern Capitalizes on Cold Stretch to Defeat Harding

SEARCY – An extended cold shooting stretch in the first half left Harding with a deficit it could not overcome, and the Bisons fell 80-64 to Southeastern Oklahoma Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Southeastern won its third straight in the series and improved to 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the GAC. Harding fell to 6-6 overall and 1-5 in conference.

Southeastern used a 14-2 run early in the first half to pull out to an 18-6 lead. A 13-2 run gave the Storm a 31-13 lead, its largest of the first half. During the run, Harding made only 1 of 15 shots.

Harding got two late 3-pointers from Jordan West and trailed 35-21 at halftime. Southeastern shot 47% in the half to Harding's 26%.

Harding cut the gap to only eight at 38-30 on a Collier Blackburn 3-pointer with 18:33 left. Southeastern answered with two free throws, two 3-pointers and two layups in a 12-0 run that gave the Storm at 50-30 lead with 14:36 remaining.

The Bisons got no closer than 14 the rest of the game.

Romio Harvey led Harding in scoring with 14 points, and Joel Polius had 12.

Kevin Buckingham led Southeastern with 20 points. He was one of four Storm players with 15 or more. Adam Dworsky had 11 assists, his seventh game this season with 10 or more.
