Southeastern Shoots Past Harding, 92-72

SEARCY – Southeastern Oklahoma shot 73% in the third quarter to blow open a close game and defeat Harding 92-72 Saturday in Great American Conference women's basketball action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Southeastern improved to 8-2 overall and remained in first place in the GAC with a 5-1 record. It was the Savage Storm's first win in Searcy since 2015.

Harding had its seven-game home winning streak snapped and fell to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the GAC.

Southeastern made nine 3-pointers in the first half and led 46-37 at halftime.

Harding pulled to within six points at 50-44 on a Jacie Evans jumper with 7:53 left in the third quarter. Southeastern responded with a 20-2 run that included a streak of 13 straight points from the Savage Storm. Southeastern made 11 of 15 shots in the period to take a 77-53 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Southeastern led by as many as 31 in the fourth before Harding closed the game on a 12-1 run.

Junior Brooke Bradley led Harding in scoring with a career-high 13 points. She shot 6 of 9 from the field. Kennedy Cooper scored 12 points, and Jordan Elder and Abbie Jiles had 10 each. It was also a career-high for Jiles.

Southeastern entered the game with two of the GAC's top four scorers and both had 20-point games Saturday. Kamryn Cantwell led the Storm with 22 points, and Katie Webb scored 20. Southeastern also got 18 points from Briley Moon.

The Storm connected on a season-high 13 3-pointers, shooting 54% from long range. It was the most 3s allowed by Harding this season.

Harding shot 46% from the field, its second straight game over 40% after shooting below 40% in the previous five games.

Harding next plays Thursday against Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Oklahoma Baptist lost 71-62 to Ouachita Baptist Saturday in Arkadelphia and has lost each of its first six conference games.
