PITTSBURG, Kan. - Senior Mitchell Kessler placed seventh in the weight throws with an NCAA provisional toss of 18.47 meters (60-07.25), breaking his own school record to highlight the performances by the Harding men's indoor track and field team Saturday at the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational. Kessler and junior pole vaulter Alex Hindman both turned in NCAA provisional marks. Below is a breakdown of each event for Harding's athletes.
Track
60 meters – Will Meredith placed 57th of 144 runners in 7.10, Harding's fastest time of the season.
200 meters – Freshman Dakarai Bush placed 43rd in 22.68, and sophomore Will Meredith was 49th in 23.00.
400 meters – Freshman Andrew Ashmore placed 53rd in 51.74.
600 yards – Freshman Jean-Louis Bouric placed 15th in 1:23.28.
800 meters – Freshman Jackson Pruim placed 39th in 1:59.03, his collegiate indoor debut.
60-meter hurdles – Freshman Dakarai Bush placed 20th in 8.52 seconds. Sophomore Garrett Watkins was 33rd in 8.70.
4x400-meter relay – Harding's team of Andrew Ashmore, Dakarai Bush, Jean-Louis Bouric and Bryce Wiedower placed 28th of 42 teams in 3:24.95.
Distance Medley Relay – Harding's team of Jackson Pruim, Jean-Louis Bouric, Bryce Wiedower, and Kendall Townsley placed seventh of 17 teams in 10:42.87.
Field
Long Jump – Junior Matt Hipshire placed 33rd with a jump of 6.38 meters (20-11.25). Sophomore Garrett Watkins was 37th at 6.26 meters (20-06.50).
Pole Vault – Junior Alex Hindman placed eight with an NCAA provisional clearance of 4.84 meters (15-10.50).
Shot Put – Freshman Wesley Shaw placed 14th with a mark of 15.46 meters (50-08.75). He moved into third among Harding's top performers all-time in the shot put.
Triple Jump – Sophomore Garrett Watkins placed 20th with a mark of 13.04 meters (42-09.50). He moved into Harding's top 10 all-time performers in the triple jump, tied for ninth.
Weight Throw – Senior
Mitchell Kessler placed seventh with an NCAA provisional toss of 18.47 meters (60-07.25), breaking his own school record. Freshman Wesley Shaw was 23rd at 15.39 meters (50-06.00).
