Harding Takes Down Tech in Overtime

SEARCY – Harding scored nine straight points over a 90-second stretch of overtime and held on to defeat Arkansas Tech 99-95 Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House. It was Harding's fourth overtime in its last seven games.

Harding (8-15, 3-14) had five players score in double figures for the first time this season and evened its home record at 7-7 with the win. Arkansas Tech remained winless in nine road games this season and fell to 12-11 overall and 8-9 in conference.

The lead changed hands 12 times in the game, the last coming on a Tyler Hutchieson layup with 2:13 left in overtime that put Harding ahead 86-85. It was part of Harding's 9-0 run that continued with a Romio Harvey jumper and two Davis Morgan free throws.

Harding made five free throws late to take a 98-88 lead, but Tech rallied late to pull within three points with seven seconds left. The Bisons got the ball in bounds on their last possession, and Tech fouled Jordan West, who made one free throw to put the game away.

Jordan West led Harding with a career-high 22 points, including a key four-play midway through the second half. West connected on 6 of 9 shots, including two 3-pointers, and made 8 of 10 free throws. He also led the team with seven rebounds.

Davis Morgan scored 20 points, his second game of 20 or more this season. Romio Harvey was 6 of 6 from the free-throw line and scored 18. Tyler Hutchieson had 16 and Joel Polius scored 11.
