WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma rallied late to defeat Harding 83-75 Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Pioneer Event Center, sending the teams into a tie for first place in the conference with one game remaining.
Harding (18-9, 15-6) led by 70-66 on a Cheyenne Brown put-back layup with 8:19 left in the game but did not have another field goal the rest of the way as Southwestern Oklahoma (20-7, 15-6) went on a 17-4 run over the game's final seven minutes.
Harding, Southwestern Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma all enter the final game with matching 15-6 conference records.
Carissa Caples led Harding with 20 points, and Brown had 19. Jordan Elder made three of Harding's eight 3-pointers and scored 13. Peyton Padgett pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds and led the team with seven assists, and Kylee Coulter added a career-high 10 rebounds.
Makyra Tramble led Southwestern with 18 points. Lauren Ramey hit consecutive 3-pointers to start the Bulldog run and had 15 points.
Harding plays its final regular season game Saturday in Alva, Oklahoma, against Northwestern Oklahoma. A win clinches a tie for the conference championship. Tiebreakers will determine GAC Tournament seeding.
