Ouachita Baptist Free Throws Sink Harding in Arkadelphia

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding men's basketball had a great first half but could not overcome outstanding free-throw shooting from Ouachita Baptist and fell 72-64 to the Tigers Saturday in Great American Conference play at Vining Arena.

Harding (7-15, 2-14) shot 55% in the first half and led by eight points on three occasions before going into halftime up 32-27.

Ouachita (9-11, 7-9) shot only 26% in the first half but stayed in the game by making all 11 free throws.

Harding cooled off in the second half, shooting 42%, and Ouachita continued to go to the line and hit free throws. The Tigers made 15 of 17 in the second half and 26 of 28 in the game.

Ouachita tied the game at 40-40 on a Kendarious Smith jumper with 14:18 left and took the lead for good on a Raymond Harris jumper at 13:54. The two baskets were part of a 16-2 Tiger run that was too much for the Bisons to overcome.

Harding played without leading scorer Romio Harvey, who missed the game with an illness.

Emir Ahmedic led the team in scoring with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting. Jordan West added 13, Joel Polius had 12, and Tyler Hutchieson scored 11.

Raymond Harris led Ouachita with 21 points.

Harding hosts Arkansas Tech Thursday in its next GAC game.
