Men’s Soccer Wins Second Straight, Beats Newman 3-1

The Harding men's soccer team scored less than a minute into the match and never looked back, as they defeated Newman 3-1 in Searcy on Thursday night. Harding improves to 3-6-2 on the season and 3-4-2 in conference. Newman falls to 0-13-1 overall and 0-8-1 in conference. 
 
Elliot Bracy started the match with his second goal of the season just 36 second into the match. Bracy's goal was the second quickest goal in school history only behind Matheus Ribeiro's goal 22 seconds into a match against Southern Nazarene on September 24, 2016. 
 
Georgios Petousis scored his fourth goal of the season in the 44th minute to give the Bisons a 2-0 going into halftime. Camilo Porto scored his second goal of the season in the 79th minute off a long ball from Adrian Renteria. Newman added a late goal in the 87th minute by Joao Moreira. 
 
Harding was outshot by the Jets 15-11 but was tied 8-8 in shots on goal. Jared Nitz got the start in goal for the Bisons and played the full 90 minutes, recording six saves. Petousis and Porto led the Bisons offense, both with three shots in the match. Nitz, Renteria, Jack Savage, and Manny Fadel were the only Bisons to play the full 90 minutes. 
 
The Bisons will play next on Saturday October 30 when Fort Hays State travels to Searcy, Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
