Baseball Bisons Sweep Southern Nazarene; Saturday's Game at 10 a.m.

SEARCY – Harding's batters had 26 hits and its pitchers had 21 strikeouts in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Nazarene Friday in Great American Conference action at Jerry Moore Field.

Harding took the opener 7-2 and won game two 10-2. The wins lifted the Bisons to 12-5 overall and 9-5 in the GAC. Southern Nazarene has lost seven straight and fell to 1-17 overall and 1-13 in the GAC.

The final game of the series will be Saturday at 10 a.m.

Senior Andrew Bradshaw (4-1) pitched six innings and had a career-high eight strikeouts in the first game. He allowed a second-inning run but cruised through the rest of his outing.

Eight of Harding's 13 hits went for extra bases. Michael Chrisman and Cody Smith both had a double and a triple. Chrisman was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Harding took the lead for good with two runs in the second. Brendan Perrett drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Connor Kelly had a run-scoring single.

The Bisons pulled away with three runs in the seventh. Chrisman's triple plated Owen Martin, and Chrisman scored on Kelly's RBI single. David Butterfield doubled in Kelly.

Extra-base hits figured in Harding's two eighth-inning runs also. Smith had an RBI triple, and Perrett added a run-scoring double.

Ryder Yakel pitched the final three innings for Harding and earned his fourth save.

Southern Nazarene starter Triston Graves (1-4) allowed five runs in 6.2 innings and took the loss. E.J. Taylor led the Crimson Storm with three hits.

Senior Ty Hoecker (2-1) had his best start of the season in game two, striking out a career-high 10 overt six innings. He allowed single runs in the second and third innings, but allowed only six hits and one walk.

Smith led Harding's offensive attack with two doubles and a triple. He was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Southern Nazarene starter Jacob Owen (0-2) walked in two Harding batters in the second. The Bisons added four more runs in the third. Smith had an RBI double, and Caleb Stull drove in two with a single to left before Chrisman brought home the fourth run with a single to center.

Smith had an RBI triple in the fourth, and Harding scored three more in the fifth.

Harrison Hefley was 3-for-4 with two runs, and Chrisman and Luke Van Dover had two hits each.
