White Sets Pole Vault Record, Harding Women Place Third in Jungle

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Competing in its second indoor meet of the season Friday, the Harding women's track and field team placed third of 13 NCAA Division II teams at the Rumble in the Jungle, hosted by Pittsburg State University.

Harding scored 71.83 points, finishing behind host Pittsburg State (146.50) and Academy of Art (72). Great American Conference teams Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene placed sixth and 13th, respectively.

The Lady Bisons scored 25.83 points in the jumps, 17 points in both the sprints and throws, nine points in the distance events and three points in the relays.

The highlight of the meet for the Lady Bisons was sophomore Sierra White's school-record setting victory in the pole vault.

White (pole vault) and Kinga Szarzynska (800 meters) both recorded NCAA provisional qualifying marks.

Jumps
Sierra White won the pole vault, setting a Harding record and meet record in the process. Her clearance of 4.03 meters (13-2.5) was an NCAA provisional qualifying height. White broke her previous school record of 3.76 meters set at Central Missouri last season. It was her third career indoor event victory.

Junior Brylan Williams tied for fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.60 meters (5-3), earning 3.5 points. Freshman Kiera Blankinship tied for eighth, clearing 1.57 meters (5-1.75) and earning 0.33 points.

Freshman Sofie Reitbauer earned three points with a sixth-place finish in the long jump. She sailed 5.31 meters (17-5.25) on her last of six jumps.

Harding had three athletes score in the triple jump. Sophomore Mariah Miller placed fourth with a jump of 11.60 meters (38-0.75). Junior Jenna Akins was sixth at 10.79 meters (35-5) and freshman Grace Carter was eighth at 10.58 meters (34-8.5).

Throws
Senior Cara Mason won the shot put with a mark of 13.50 meters on the second of her six throws. The winner of 15 events in her outdoor career, the shot put victory Friday was the first indoor event victory of her career. Junior Cooper Monn added four points with a fifth-place toss of 12.56 meters.

Mason scored three points with a sixth-place finish in the weight throw. Her fifth of six throws sailed 14.13 meters.

Sprints
Senior Anne-Noelle Clerima placed second in the 400 meters in 57.45 seconds, earning eight points.

Freshman Elyvia Reid scored four points with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters. Her time was 26.30 seconds.

Junior Celia Stramrood placed fourth in the 600-yard run in 1:30.43. She scored five points.

Distance
Senior Kinga Szarzynska ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:13.63 to place third in the 800 meters and score six points.

Sophomore Nieves Megias placed sixth in the 3,000 meters in 10:31.38 to score three points.

Relays
Harding's quartet of Krisman Eakin, Szarzynska, Lauren Shell and Clerima placed sixth in the 4x400 meters in 3:59.35 and scored three points.
