Briley-Anne Brown Named GAC Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the eighth Women's Soccer weekly awards for the 2022 season. Harding's Briley-Anne Brown and Oklahoma Baptist's Katie Fowler shared the Offensive Player honor while Northwestern Oklahoma State's Kaitlyn Morphy and Ouachita Baptist's Sophia Valencia split Defender of the Week. The Tigers' Michele Snow garnered the Goalkeeper award.


#theGAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Briley-Anne Brown, Harding, F, Jr., Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Brown scored twice and added an assist as the Lady Bisons split their two matches. She registered the fastest goal in program history when she scored just 17 seconds into the Lady Bisons' contest with Oklahoma Baptist. In the 2-1 win against Southern Nazarene, she scored in the 12th minute and assisted on Whitney Thomas's game winner in the 33rd minute.

 

#theGAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Katie Fowler, Oklahoma Baptist, F, Sr., Norman, Oklahoma

Fowler tallied all five of her points in the Bison's 3-1 win against Harding. She scored a pair of first-half goals and added an assist on Jadynn Diggs' 87th-minute tally. Her goal in the 30th minute tied the match and her goal 10 minutes later ended up as the game winner. Her four game-winning goals lead the GAC.

#theGAC CO-DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Kaitlyn Morphy, Northwestern Oklahoma State, D, Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Morphy played the full 180 minutes in scoreless draws against first-place Southwestern Oklahoma State and East Central. For the first time since 2004, the Rangers have registered three-straight shutouts. The Rangers own a five-game unbeaten streak and have not allowed a goal in 300 minutes.

#theGAC CO-DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Sophia Valencia, Ouachita, D, So., Lawton, Oklahoma

Valencia led a Tiger back line that notched shutouts against Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist to extend the team's scoreless streak to more than 253 minutes. She contributed on offense against the Crimson Storm when she scored the game winner - her first career goal - in the 60th minute.

#theGAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Michele Snow, Ouachita Baptist, GK, Sr., North Richland, Texas
Snow recorded two clean sheets, her third and fourth of the season and her 13th and 14th of her career as the Tigers kept pace in the GAC standings with a 2-0 win against Southern Nazarene and a scoreless draw at Oklahoma Baptist. She dropped her goals-against average to 1.33, the second-best mark in the conference.
