Petousis Nets Two in Harding's 3-0 Win over Ouachita

SEARCY – Harding senior midfielder Georgios Petousis missed the first half of the season with an injury and has slowly worked his way back into the lineup. Saturday, he announced his presence with the Bisons' first two-goal game of the campaign and led Harding to a 3-0 GAC/MIAA victory over Ouachita Baptist at Stevens Soccer Field.

Petousis, a native of Asini, Greece, notched his first goal on a blast from outside the 18-yard box on an assist from Camilo Porto in the 20th minute. The second came on a header in the 6-yard box off a free kick from Jonah Pastiroff.

The Bisons took the 2-0 lead into halftime.

Harding's final goal came in the 89th minute. Junior James Lee took a pass from Josh Fulton and lashed a shot from almost 25 yards out for his first career goal.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Nitz made six saves in his second shutout of the season and third of his career.

The victory was Harding's first home win of the season and moved the Bisons to 2-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference. Harding has seven points in the GAC standings, good for fifth place, four points behind fourth-place Southern Nazarene. The top four teams reach the conference tournament.

Ouachita dropped to 1-10-2 overall and 1-6-0 in conference. The Tigers are tied for sixth with Newman on three points.

Harding's next action is Thursday at home against Newman at 7 p.m.
