ALVA, Okla. – Harding shot a season-high 65% from the field but fell to Northwestern Oklahoma 100-94 Saturday in Great American Conference men's basketball action at Percefull Fieldhouse. Northeastern entered the game with the best defensive field goal percentage in the GAC at just over 42%.
Harding (6-20, 4-16) connected on 70% from the field in the first half and 62% in the second half. Northwestern won for the 10th time in its last 11 games and improved to 19-7 overall and 14-6 in conference games.
Taylor Currie led Harding with 28 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 12 of 15 from the field. Ramiro Santiago shot 8 of 11 and scored 23 points.
Malik Parsons led Northwestern with 25 points off the bench. He was 8 of 11 from the field and 9 of 10 at the free throw line.
Northwestern shot 54% and made 26 of 30 free throws.
Harding led 85-83 on a Currie layup with 4:21 left. Northwestern answered with an 8-2 run and took the lead for good on a Malik Parsons layup with 3:00 remaining.
Harding pulled within 93-92 on a Santiago three-point play with 1:22 left, but Northwestern's Brian Free made a long 3-pointer from the left wing to seal the win.
Harding plays its final home game of the season Thursday against Arkansas-Monticello.
