Bisons Sink Arkansas-Monticello on Senior Day

SEARCY – After a cold first half, Harding's offense got going in the second half and the Bisons defeated Arkansas-Monticello 60-49 Thursday in Great American Conference action on Senior Night at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding (7-20, 5-16) shot only 32% in the first half, but hit 12 of 24 in the second half. The Bisons also made 4 of 7 3-pointers and 8 of 9 free throws.

Arkansas-Monticello (10-17, 6-15) lost its fifth straight and fell out of contention for a spot in the GAC Tournament.

Harding limited Arkansas-Monticello to only 25% shooting in the first half and led 24-16 at the break. The Bisons trailed 15-13 with 5:30 left in the half, but went on an 11-1 run with Taylor Currie scoring Harding's final six points.

Both teams shot better in the second half. Harding had a four-minute stretch where it connected on seven straight shots. The Bisons pushed the lead to as many as 13 late in the game.

Ramiro Santiago led Harding with 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Taylor Currie added 14 points.

Jabari Sweet came off the bench to lead Arkansas-Monticello with 12 points.

Harding honored four senior players – Emir Ahmedic, Romen Martin, Tyler Moore and Collier Blackburn – in a postgame ceremony.

The Bisons play their final game of the season Saturday at Henderson State.
