Bison Baseball Drops Midweek Contest at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Harding baseball team fell 12-3 at Union Tuesday in non-conference action. It was Harding's first road loss in six games this season.

The Bisons fell to 10-7 overall and Union improved to 8-9.

Junior Bryan Seaman (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Harding. Senior Dylan Adcock was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 2.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit.

In the batter's box, the Bisons were paced by Michael Dewald, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bisons got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Senior Chris Witzke came across to score the lone run for Harding.

Union bounced back scoring seven in the bottom of the second inning. 

Trailing 11-1, the Bisons plated two more runs in the sixth off a Union error.

GAME NOTES
» Freshman Javier Lobo made his Harding debut, pitching a scoreless seventh inning ... sophomore Billy Johnston also made his debut, allowing an unearned run in the sixth.
» Cody Smith singled in the first inning, extending his hitting streak to eight games and his on-base streak to 13 games.
» Chris Witzke and David Butterfield both extended their hitting streaks to seven games ... Butterfield has reached in 10 straight games.
» Michael Dewald hit his sixth double of the season, tying for the team lead.
» Harding had two errors in a game for the first time this season ... the 12 runs allowed tied a season high.
» Harding pitchers faced 41 Union (TN) hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and 13 fly balls while striking out two.
» Union (TN) was led offensively by senior Patrick Music, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
» Sophomore Sam Poindexter led the Bulldogs pitching staff, throwing six innings.

Harding will continue GAC play this weekend when it travels to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to take on Henderson State. Game one of the three-game series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. Coverage links can be found on HardingSports.com
