Bisons Score Early, Often to Complete Tech Sweep

SEARCY – Harding scored in five of the first six innings Saturday and completed a three-game Great American Conference sweep of Arkansas Tech with a 9-3 victory at Jerry Moore Field. The Bisons won both games of a doubleheader Saturday with walk-off 1-0 and 5-4 wins.

Harding moved to 31-17 overall and 21-12 in the GAC with the victory. The Bisons finished third in the final GAC standings and will learn their first opponent in next week's GAC Tournament as all results filter in.

Harding scored four unearned runs on two Tech errors in the first inning. Caleb Stull's two-run single to center was the key hit in the inning.

The Bisons scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and plated two in the sixth.

Harding had 13 hits, two of them from Chris Witzke, who ran his hitting streak to 28 games. David Butterfield, Cody Smith and Stull also had two hits each. Brendan Perrett had his seventh double and Drew McNeel his ninth.

Maddox Long (4-5) started and allowed only one earned run in six innings with five strikeouts, earning the win. Billy Johnston, Jackson Saylor and Brent Southerland worked out of the pen.

The win was Harding's eighth straight over Tech in Searcy, dating to 2016.
