Early Second Half Goal Lifts Rogers State over Harding Men's Soccer

SEARCY – Rogers State scored 18 seconds into the second half for the only goal of a 1-0 victory over Harding Thursday in GAC/MIAA men's soccer action at the Stevens Soccer Field.

Harding (1-8-1, 1-3-1) out-shot Rogers State 15-14, and the Bisons had seven shots on goal to five for the Hillcats. Harding had two shots cleared off the goal line by the defense but could not get one across.

Harding's 15 shots tied a season high and marked the second time this season the Bisons had more shots than their opponents.

Sophomore Andrew Wagner had a season-high three of Harding's seven shots on goal. Wagner's four shots tied the most by a Harding player this season.

Harding will play next on the road at Southern Nazarene next Thursday, Oct. 6.

Rogers State snapped a seven-game winless streak that included five ties and moved to 3-2-5 overall and remained unbeaten in conference at 1-0-3.

After Thursday's games, Harding is in fifth place in the GAC/MIAA standings with four points (1 win, 1 tie). The top four teams in the seven-team conference advance to the conference tournament.
