Third-Quarter Thumping Sends No. 14 Harding to Victory over Ouachita Baptist

SEARCY – Rory Geer and Sage Hawley both produced double-doubles, No. 14 Harding scored 11 straight points in the third quarter, and the Lady Bisons held off a furious fourth-quarter run by Ouachita Baptist to defeat the Tigers 64-52 before a packed Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

The victory was Harding 22nd straight at home and pushed the Lady Bisons to 16-2 overall and 11-1 in conference play. Ouachita lost for the sixth time in its last seven games and fell to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in the GAC.

Harding led 26-24 at halftime and the game was tied 32-32 on two Ouachita free throws with 4:08 left in the third quarter.

Harding scored the next 11 points with Hawley hitting two free throws, Maddi Holt drilling a 3-pointer and Geer scoring the next six points to put the Lady Bisons ahead 43-32 with a minute left in the quarter.

Harding led 46-34 entering the fourth. Josie Williams hit 3-pointer from the left wing and Geer dropping in a driving layup to boost Harding's lead to 55-39.

Ouachita scored 10 straight points to trim the margin to 55-49, but a Holt layup and Kendrick Bailey's long 3-pointer allowed the Lady Bisons to fend off the Tigers.

Geer led Harding with 14 points and added 10 rebounds. Hawley had 10 point and 16 rebounds, and Bailey added 10 points.

Harding held Ouachita to only 29.8% shooting for the game and 2-of-14 from 3-point range.
