Harding Falls to Southwestern Oklahoma 81-67 in GAC Opener

WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Harding men's basketball dropped its Great American Conference opener 81-67 to Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday.

Sam Smith led the Bisons with 23 points, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bulldogs shooting 70% from the floor (14-of-20) in the second half. Rylie Marshall added 11 points, and Josh Denton contributed nine points off the bench.

Harding (4-3, 0-1 GAC) struggled from 3-point range, shooting just 26.5% (9-of-34).

Southwestern's largest lead came in the second half, when they stretched their advantage to 17 points. Tobias Roland led the Bulldogs with 22 points, while MJ Warrior added 20 points. Nate Reherman contributed 17 points off the bench for Southwestern Oklahoma (4-2, 1-0 GAC).

The Bisons will look to bounce back from the loss when they travel to Alva, Oklahoma, to face Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday.
