Dominant Second Quarter Propels No. 17 Harding to 26th Consecutive Home Win on Senior Night

SEARCY – After a slow start, No. 17 Harding caught fire in the second quarter and defeated Arkansas-Monticello 75-60 on Thursday in Great American Conference women's basketball action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding won its 26th straight at home and its 16th straight over Arkansas-Monticello to improve to 23-4 overall and 18-3 in conference games. It is the seventh time in program history Harding reached 23 wins and the fourth time the Lady Bisons reached 18 conference wins.

The victory also clinched the No. 2 seed for Harding in the upcoming GAC Tournament.

Arkansas-Monticello, already eliminated from tournament contention, fell to 8-19 overall and 4-17 in conference.

Arkansas-Monticello shot 64% in the first quarter and led 21-15 after one, but Aubrey Isbell took over the game in the second quarter and scored 12 of Harding's 24 points in the period. She scored the first two points and the last six points of a 13-0 Lady Bison run that gave Harding its first lead and pushed its advantage to 36-24 with 2:17 left in the quarter.

Isbell finished off the second period with a buzzer-beating layup that sent the teams to the break with Harding ahead 39-30.

Sage Hawley and Rory Geer alternated baskets twice to start a 16-4 run to close the third quarter. The Lady Bisons led 61-43 after three.

Arkansas-Monticello pulled within 10 points twice in the fourth quarter but got no closer.

Isbell led the Lady Bisons with a career-high 24 points. She shot 9-of-15 from the field and made 6-of-8 free throws. She was one of five Lady Bisons with 10 or more points.

Sage Hawley and Maddi Holt had 12 points each, and Rory Geer and Katelyn Kabrich both scored 11.

Harding honored five seniors: Regan Crawford, Lexie Davis, Patricija Peric, Jorey Thorman and Itziar Ugarte in a postgame ceremony.

Harding plays its final game of the regular season Saturday against Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
