Second-Half Comeback Sends No. 10 Harding to 23rd Straight Home Win

SEARCY – No. 10 Harding held Oklahoma Baptist to only four second-half field goals and 16% shooting and erased a halftime deficit in a 61-44 victory Thursday in Great American Conference women's action at Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

The victory was Harding's 23rd consecutive at home and pushed the Lady Bisons to 19-2 overall and 14-1 in conference. Oklahoma Baptist has lost four of its last five and fell to 9-12 overall and 6-9 in conference. Harding won its 11th straight over Oklahoma Baptist.

Sage Hawley led Harding in scoring with 23 points, and Rory Geer had her seventh double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Harding trailed 29-27 at halftime but opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run and retook the lead, holding a 39-31 advantage after two Aubrey Isbell free throws with 4:07 left.

The Lady Bisons held Oklahoma Baptist to only 1-of-10 shooting in the third period and entered the fourth with a 44-34 lead. Hawley had 11 of HU's 17 points in the quarter.

Harding extended its lead in the fourth quarter, holding Oklahoma Baptist to 3-of-15 shooting in the final 10 minutes.

Harding held a 47-32 rebound advantage and outscored Oklahoma Baptist 22-6 on second-chance points.

Oklahoma Baptist started out strong offensively, hitting six of its first eight shots and leading 13-12 at the first media timeout.

The teams combined to miss their last 11 field goal attempts of the quarter and Oklahoma Baptist lead 15-14 after one period.

Oklahoma Baptist hit two early 3-pointers in the second quarter and led 25-19 with 4:57 left in the first half.

Harding shot only 29% in the second quarter and trailed by two at the break.

Harding's next game is Saturday at home against No. 5 Southern Nazarene. The Crimson Storm defeated Arkansas Tech 74-38 on Thursday in Russellville and are 21-0 this season.
