Baseball Bisons Drop Doubleheader at UAM

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Harding dropped both games of a Great American Conference doubleheader Sunday at Arkansas-Monticello. The Bisons lost the opener 13-2 and fell 3-1 in game two. The teams conclude the series Monday with a single game at 1 p.m.

Harding (12-8, 6-5) had five hits in the opener with senior Michael Dewald going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Logan Lacey had his fourth double of the season and drove in a run. Wesley Featherston hit his first home run as a Bison, a solo shot in the fifth.

Maddox Long (3-1) started on the mound and suffered his first loss of the season.

Cooper Newsom had two of Harding's three hits, one of them his third double of the season, and its lone RBI in game two. It was his fifth multi-hit game of the season. Dewald had the Bisons' other hit to extend his team-best hitting streak to seven games.

Davis Welch (3-2) had another strong start for the Bisons. He allowed three earned runs over five innings with five strikeouts and no walks.
