Sanchez Claims Victory at The Arkansas Collegiate

EL DORADO, Ark. – Harding senior Brenda Sanchez won her first individual medalist honor by winning The Arkansas Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at Mystic Creek Golf Club. It was the 14th individual medalist honor in Harding women's golf history.

Sanchez, a native of Celaya, Mexico, shot 10-over 154 for the 36-hole event and won by two strokes.

Harding's team placed second in the seven-team tournament. The Lady Bisons shot 324 in Round 1 and 317 in Round 2 to finish at 65-over 641.

Alicia Martinez and Kodie Winnings also turned in top-10 finishes. Martinez tied for sixth at 17-over 161 and Winnings tied for 10th at 18-over 162.

Harding's next action comes in two weeks at the Hardscrabble Invitational, hosted by Arkansas-Fort Smith on Mar. 25-26 at Hardscrabble Country Club.
