Harding Women's Track Jumps to Second Place after Day 2

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The 20th-ranked Harding women's track and field team moved up three places into second after two days at the Great American Conference Championships.

Harding has 48 points and trails the leader by only a single point with one day of competition remaining. All running events Thursday were prelims.

Below are the highlights of Day 2 for the Lady Bisons:
  • Sophomore Emily Patterson earned one point for an eighth-place finish in the long jump … her first jump of 5.12m (16-8.75) was her best.
  • Harding wracked up 22 points in the javelin … senior Anna Kay Clark won her fourth GAC championship with a toss of 44.15m (144-10), the second-best throw by Lady Bison in the GAC Championship … senior Meghan McElroy placed second with a throw of 36.38m (119-4) and junior Sydney Soto placed fifth at 32.05m (105-2) … Audri Aaron was 13th (26.92m) and Brylee Stewart was 16th (25.02m).
  • Harding added an additional 16 points in the high jump … junior Kiera Blankinship won the event with a clearance of 1.66m (5-5.25) … she won her second straight conference champion in the high jump is Harding's eighth conference championship in the event … freshman Ally Cheek was fifth (four points) with a clearance of 1.56m (5-1.5), and Emily Patterson was seventh, clearing 1.51m (4-11.5).
  • Qualifying for the finals in running events were Cella Nguema (100m, 14.17), Omolara Ogunmakinju (400 meters, 55.57; 200 meters, 24.52), Lisa Retailleau (400 meters, 56.64; 400-meter hurdles, 1:02.15), Briana Johnson (100 meters, 11.90; 200 meters, 25.16), Leila Ngapout (100 meters, 12.23), Cella Nguema (100 meters, 12.44), Cassidy Graham (800 meters, 2:15.67).
Action starts again on day three with the 5,000 meters at 8 a.m. and field events at 10 a.m.
