RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The Great American Conference on Wednesday announced its Golfer of the Week awards for the fifth week of the fall season, recognizing Harding junior Dennis Staykov and Southwestern Oklahoma State freshman Maria Velilla.

Harding junior Dennis Staykov earned the men's honor after leading the Bisons to a third-place finish at the Battle for the Belt tournament. Staykov, a native of Sofia, Bulgaria, finished second in the individual standings. He opened the event with a 1-under-par 71, followed by a 5-under 67 and a bogey-free 3-under 69. Staykov made 13 birdies for the tournament and led the 71-player field with a 3.90 scoring average on par-four holes.
