Record-Breaking Rout: No. 2 Harding Football Blanks Oklahoma Baptist, Claims GAC Title

SEARCY — The No. 2 Harding Bisons delivered a historically dominant performance on Homecoming and Senior Day, crushing Oklahoma Baptist, 69-0, on Saturday at First Security Stadium. The victory improved Harding's undefeated record to 9-0 and gave the Bisons their third straight Great American Conference championship and fourth in the last five years.

Harding's offense racked up 654 total yards, the fourth-highest single-game total in program history. The rushing attack eclipsed the 500-yard mark (506 yards) and scored eight rushing touchdowns for the second straight game.

This was Harding's fourth shutout of the season and its second consecutive blanking of an opponent. Harding entered the game as D2's leader in both total defense and scoring defense.

Harding also got its passing game going, with Cole Keylon completing 4-of-5 passes for 148 yards, the Bisons' first 100-yard passing effort in its last 18 games.

Fullback Andrew Miller led a host of running backs with 143 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. Keylon, in his 49th career start, expertly piloted the offense, scoring twice on the ground and connecting with slot back Braden Jay for a massive 79-yard touchdown reception.

Jay, one of 18 seniors honored before the game, finished with a team-best 167 all-purpose yards. Harding also got rushing touchdowns from Josh Strickland, Jr., Dax Goff and Brandon Hines, Jr.

The Bisons defense was unyielding, holding Oklahoma Baptist (2-7, 2-7 GAC) to just 224 yards of total offense, forcing three interceptions, including a 15-yard pick-six by linebacker Clark Griffin in the second quarter. Griffin, the D2 active leader in career tackles, also had six total tackles on the day. Ty Dugger and Kelon Fountain also had interceptions. Dugger's pick was the ninth of his career.

The win extends Harding's perfect 10-0 all-time record against Oklahoma Baptist. The Bisons go on the road next week to take on Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma.
