SEARCY, Ark. — National recognition has arrived in Searcy, as the Harding men's tennis program secured the No. 4 ranking in NCAA Division II doubles, highlighting a powerful fall season that saw four Bisons earn individual regional singles honors and solidify the team's depth.
The pairing of Cian Mikkelsen (Zoetermeer, Netherlands) and Adrian Solorzano (Morelia, Mexico) led the way, earning the No. 4 ranking nationally in NCAA Division II doubles. The duo also claimed the No. 1 spot in the Central Region. Mikkelsen and Solorzano dominated the fall season with a 10-1 record, capturing the ITA Central Regional doubles championship, finishing third at the ITA Cup, and winning the Flight 1 championship at the GAC Individual Championships.
In singles play, Solorzano secured a No. 9 national ranking and the No. 2 spot in the Central Region. Solorzano went 6-4 in the fall, reaching the finals of the ITA Central Region Tournament and winning his opening match at the ITA Cup.
Three other Bisons earned regional singles recognition: Cian Mikkelsen is ranked No. 12, Luis Agullo (Barcelona, Spain) is ranked No. 15, and Edoardo D'Arrigo (Quarrata, Italy) is ranked No. 18. Agullo reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regional, while Mikkelsen and D'Arrigo both advanced to the Round of 16.
Harding also placed a second duo in the national doubles rankings. Florian Gayme (Toulouse, France) and Jan Alexander Has (Ulm, Germany) are ranked No. 23 nationally and No. 3 in the Central Region. The pair went 5-2, reaching the Flight A semifinal at the ITA Central Regional doubles championship.
