SEARCY, Ark. — The Harding women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Ouachita Baptist in the regular season finale at the Stevens Soccer Complex Saturday in Great American Conference action.
Harding falls to 10-6-2 overall and 8-3-1 in the GAC.
The Lady Bisons will now turn their attention to the postseason, as they look to take on fourth seed Northwestern Oklahoma Nov. 14th at 11 a.m. at the Stevens Soccer Complex. The Lady Bisons will be hosting the GAC tournament after securing a conference championship to earn the No. 1 seed. Harding will be making its 11th appearance and will host for just the second time. The Lady Bisons last hosted back in 2015. Harding went on to win the tournament.
Ouachita Baptist improves to 7-6-5 overall and 6-2-4 in the GAC.
Harding goalkeeper Lucy Riddle registered a season-high 13 saves for the Lady Bisons.
Ouachita Baptist seized the early momentum, netting two quick goals in the first half. Reese Brown opened the scoring in the sixth minute, stealing the ball from the Harding defense and firing it into the center of the net. Minutes later, Madi Vana scored in the 13th minute off a free kick assist from Brookelyn Babb to put the Tigers up 2-0 going into halftime.
The Lady Bisons showed great resolve in the second half, finding the net just four minutes after the restart. Midfielder Katie Jones broke through in the 49th minute for her second goal of the season, taking a pass from defender Norah Neely from 40 yards out and lofting a shot over the goalie's hands.
However, Ouachita swiftly extinguished the Harding rally, with McKenna Wright answering in the 52nd minute. Wright received a pass into the box off a fastbreak and tapped it into the bottom left corner to push the final score to 3-1.
Harding generated 14 total shots in the match, with seven on target. Kate Daniel led the Lady Bisons' attack with two shots on goal.
