Â
1. The Final Four Hunt -Â The No. 2-ranked Harding Bisons (13-0), champions of the Great American Conference, host the No. 10 UT Permian Basin Falcons (11-2) Saturday in the NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Final. This marks Harding's fifth regional final appearance since 2016. A victory would send the Bisons to the national semifinals for the third time in program history.
2. Strength vs. Strength -Â Saturday's matchup features a massive stylistic clash. Harding boasts the NCAA's No. 1 rushing offense (455.2 yards per game) and the No. 1 passing defense (allowing just 129.8 yards per game). They face a UTPB aerial attack that ranks third nationally, averaging 331.5 passing yards per contest.
3. Home Field Fortress -Â First Security Stadium has become one of the toughest venues in Division II. The Bisons have won 23 consecutive home games, the second-longest active streak in the nation. Overall, Harding has won 44 of its last 46 games dating back to 2021.
4. The No-Fly Zone -Â The Bisons' defense has been historically dominant in 2025. Harding leads Division II in five major statistical categories: scoring defense (8.2 ppg), total defense (240.4 ypg), passing yards allowed (129.8 ypg), and red zone defense (44.4%). The unit has forced 22 turnovers (13 INT, 9 FF) and generated 24 turnovers on downs.
5. First Date with History -Â This is the first-ever meeting between Harding and UT Permian Basin. However, there is a connection: HU quarterback Cole Keylon earned his first career win as a starter in 2022 against East Central, who was then coached by current UTPB head coach Kris McCullough.
6. Chasing the All-Time Record -Â The Bisons are on the verge of rewriting the history books again. The offense is just 242 rushing yards away from breaking the all-time collegiate rushing record of 6,160 yards, set by the 2023 Harding squad. They are also just four touchdowns shy of breaking the single-season rushing TD record (79).
7. Hill Hopeful - Fullback Andrew Miller, a Harlon Hill Award finalist, is in peak postseason form. He has tied the school record (set by Snake Dixon in 1972) with seven consecutive 100-yard rushing games. Miller ranks second in D2 in total rushing yards (1,730) and rushing touchdowns (23).
8. The Human Highlight Reel -Â Slotback Braden Jay, the GAC Offensive Player of the Year, continues to be the most explosive ball carrier in the country. He is the NCAA career leader (all divisions) with an average of 12.3 yards per rush. Jay has 23 touches this season of 20 yards or more, including seven plays of over 50 yards.
9. The Anchor in the Middle -Â Linebacker Clark Griffin, the GAC Defensive Player of the Year, is the NCAA-era career leader in tackles (407) and tackles for loss (45.5) at Harding. He leads the team with 131 tackles this season and ranks 14th nationally with 10.1 stops per game. He is making his 54th start Saturday.
10. Sobczak's Streak -Â Defensive lineman Justin Sobczak has been a terror in the backfield, recording a tackle for loss in eight straight games and a sack in seven consecutive games. He is coming off a career-best performance against Pittsburg State, where he tallied 3.0 sacks.
11. Playoff Pedigree -Â Harding carries the banner for the GAC in the postseason. The Bisons have accounted for 14 of the 16 total NCAA playoff victories earned by Great American Conference teams in league history. Harding holds a 14-8 all-time record in D2 playoff games.
