SEARCY — Reggie Webster scored 20 points on near-perfect shooting, and Keyln McBride added 18 points and nine assists to power Harding to a 77-55 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night in the Great American Conference opener for both teams. The Bisons conclude their six-game home stand Saturday against Northwestern Oklahoma with a 7:30 tipoff.
Webster, a freshman, finished 7 of 8 from the field and 3 of 4 from 3-point range for the Bisons (5-2, 1-0 GAC), who extended their winning streak to five games. McBride filled the stat sheet, adding five steals and five rebounds to his offensive production while shooting 6 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Thompson Camara provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and seven rebounds, helping Harding control the interior.
Harding never trailed in the contest, using a 16-0 run and a stifling defense to build a 37-22 halftime lead. The Bisons held SWOSU to just 36.4% shooting from the field and limited the Bulldogs to 6 of 33 (18.2%) from beyond the arc.
The Bisons pushed their advantage to as many as 31 points late in the second half. Harding shot a blistering 50% from the floor (26 of 52) and connected on 11 of 24 attempts from deep.
Kayden Carter led Southwestern Oklahoma State (3-4, 0-1) with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Tucker Shepherd added 11 points off the bench for the Bulldogs, who remain winless away from home this season.
Harding outrebounded the Bulldogs 35-26 and turned 15 SWOSU turnovers into 14 points.
